Newton Main Street has been designated as an Accredited Main Street America™ program for meeting rigorous performance standards. Each year, Main Street America and its partners announce the list of Accredited programs to recognize their exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the Main Street Approach™.

Tanya Michener took home the Leadership award. Tanya is a vital member of the Newton Main Street team. She is passionate about volunteering which is essential to improving Newton.

Jerry Schwaller the owner of the Wormhoudt Building located at 115-118 W 2nd St N took home the award for Main Street Façade Improvement category. The transformation of downtown façades has a major impact on visual appearance of a Main Street District.

Coffee and Connect is an informal, free monthly series and collaboration between The Newton Chamber of Commerce, Newton Main Street and the City of Newton, to educate and inform our local businesses and community.

Main Street Iowa offers the Open 4 Business program to encourage business development in designated Main Street districts.
